Earth Hour is celebrating its 5 year anniversary today. Turn off your lights between 8:30 pm and 9:30 pm (local time) to raise awareness and show your commitment to the fight against Global Climate Change. You can follow Earth Hour events at http://www.earthhour.org/ and even get the kids involved in the countdown, it’s on the computer after all. Of course they need to shut it off for the event but they might be more willing after hearing the stories of other individuals from around the world. It’s a fun activity for everyone and can really be quite moving. Last year we got a deeper sence of our global community watching cities and famous monuments go dark one after the other. It’s a golden opportunity to talk about global warming, what else is there to do in the candle light for a hour…..OK there ARE other exciting things to do with that special friend during this time, use your best judgement…….as long as the lights are off you’ve made your point for the planet.
