COLD WEATHER COMPOSTING

The nights are below zero and snow will soon cover the ground here in Manitoba.  For folks who been busy gardening and composting all summer now is the time of “itchy fingers”.  What will they do with the yard waste and scraps that have so conveniently been eaten by the composter during the warm weather?   Don’t let winter hold back your composting efforts, you can keep going inside with a worm bin.  http://www.naturesperfectplantfood.com/2012/01/26/easy-bin-update/  any organic material that’s kept out of the land fill is a good thing.  There are solid reasons for composting all year round. http://www.naturesperfectplantfood.com/2011/11/27/solid-waste-management-and-climate-change/   If you’re not keen on having worms indoors, please keep composting outside.  Frozen scraps will quickly disappear when the warmth of spring returns.
