On your farm.

No self-respecting animal producer should be running an operation without using composting worms.  There are many reasons to employ this technology but the most compelling is time.  Red worms save the farmer time.  Using manure to enrich your soil takes time.  Most forms of livestock waste needs to compost before it can be introduced to a garden or field.  Fresh manure will “burn” plants with the wrong kind of nitrogen.  Worms will fix this, literally, worms fix the nitrogen in manure turning it into soluble fertilizer that growing plants can use.  They accomplish this amazing feat by the miracle of bacteria.  Just like people worms use beneficial bacteria to digest their food, the bacterium “fixes” the nitrogen.  http://www.naturesperfectplantfood.com/2012/02/19/micro-organisms-in-vermicompost/   Livestock production produces manure, why not turn it into usable fertilizer in 6 months instead of a year?
